Dwell President Michela O-Connor-Abrams onstage at Dwell on Design

Throughout the weekend, more than 200 industry leaders, ranging from urban revitalization experts to cutting-edge designers, will participate in over 90 conversations onstage. Interior designer Nate Berkus will discuss the new modern kitchen, followed by a meet and greet at the LG Studio Reimagination Pavilion (#1201). After screening Powers of TenEames and Llisa Demetrios, Charles and Ray Eameses' grandchildren, will revisit the short film's legacy. Americana expert Charles Phoenix will take his audience on an action-packed “field trip” slideshow adventure to Southern California’s most amazing and unsung over-the-top midcentury architectural treasures.

Monogram Modern Home at Portland's Rejuvenation

Dwell and Monogram are bringing the Monogram Modern Home, a custom prefab designed by Chris Pardo for Method Homes, to Dwell on Design, where visitors will have the chance to visit the space and sample bites cooked on Monogram appliances.

Yarn Bombing Los Angeles covered the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles with 7,500 hand crocheted granny squares

Over the course of three days, the knit graffiti collaborative Yarn Bombing Los Angeles will create colorful, site-specific installations at the L.A. Convention Center. Visitors to their booth (#2344) will have the opportunity to sew a blanket made of excess granny squares from the CAFAM Granny Squared project.

Dwell on Design Los Angeles Artist in Residence Norm Maxwell

On Saturday, May 30, local street artist Norm “Nomzee” Maxwell will spend the entire day creating a mural in real time as part of a live-painting demonstration on the show floor. Upon completion, the mural will be transported to Freehab, the Teen Project’s Life Transformation Center in Sun Valley, which serves the area’s most vulnerable youth.

The American Institute of Architects Los Angeles has selected 15 finalists for the 11th annual Restaurant Design Awards, which honor excellence in hospitality design.  Winners will be announced on May 30. The judges and finalists will discuss the projects onstage beforehand.

IdeaPaint wall in a kitchen

IdeaPaint, the creator of dry erase paint for home, schools, and offices, will create an art wall for the Modern Family Pavilion—a fun zone for kids and their parents—at Dwell on Design Los Angeles. The company, which is exhibiting at Dwell on Design (booth #1009), is recruiting their onsite artist, Derek Cascio, to create a special wall for kids to color and scribble on in the Modern Family Pavilion (booth #901) Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31.
