After the home was damaged by the storm, designer James Wood modernized the vernacular style along the south shore of Long Island by adding radiant floors and taking advantage of nature heat and light with windows all along the home.
The picturesque deck is made from natural mahogany whereas the walls are oiled mahogany.
In the living room, an array of furniture from Knoll, B&B Italia, and Room & Board make the surrounding views comfortable to observe. Wood used Kawneer for windows and Andersen for the doors.
The kitchen features custom cabinets with Caesarstone countertops. The appliances are Bertazzoni and Whirlpool.
The 1,700-square-foot home was built on the existing footprint but the design was updated to meet FEMA requirements. Referencing farm buildings, the home is a nod to the existing homes and landscape.
