The prospect of retirement doesn’t just signal the end of a career; it offers the chance to recalibrate and re-prioritize in life.
At this year’s AIA LA Design Awards, AIA's Los Angeles chapter granted one of the Honor Awards to Studio Pali Fekete architects, who designed the Morgan Phoa Residence/Library in Los Feliz. The Culver City-based firm renovated the interior of the house that was first designed in the 1920s by Wallace Neff, as well adding a library. The two-story structure’s facade is enveloped with a metal screen that’s perforated into a pattern that recalls the precast concrete window grills that existed on the original building.
