Eero Saarinen's Tulip chairs and table—part of the Pedestal Collection, first launched by Knoll in 1958—remains among the Finnish-American designer's best-known works to this day. See how these modern homes make use of the timeless design and its small, space-efficient "stem" base.

At this renovated Tribeca loft, Eames shell chairs surround a Saarinen Tulip table from Knoll. The Line console is from Design Within Reach and the pendant light is Louis Poulsen's Snowball. While architect Matthew Miller of New York firm StudioLAB gutted the space, some of the original details—like the windows—remain. The rug is from ABC Home.

Designed by Saarinen, the legendary Miller House in Columbus, Indiana opened to the public in May 2011 for the first time. Its dining room centers, naturally, around a custom Saarinen-designed marble-and-terrazzo table ringed by Tulip chairs. Overhead is a Venini chandelier.

After fifteen years of disuse, a Saarinen-designed house on the Cranbrook campus was renovated and updated by the school's Director, Reed Kroloff, and interior designer Lynda Charfoos, in 2011. A set of Tulip chairs and a table furnish the dining area.
