Nothing ruins a potentially fabulous room design like boring blank walls. Wall decor is often the last bit that really brings it all together or adds that extra little touch of personalization. Scroll through our ten wall decor ideas for some inspiration for your own home!

WALL DECALS FROM BLIK

Little adds a bit of visual spice to the walls like a pop of color. Wallpaper is a fine bet, and the growing glut of the stuff should make it easy enough to separate the wheat from the chaff. Wall decals have also had something of a vogue, and in that vein we turn to the 2x4 collection for Blik. A handful of new designs by 2x4, a firm of identity designers who have worked for MTV, Prada, and other "seems-I've-heard-of-them" brands, are certainly worth a look. In fact they defy you not to notice them.

WALLPAPER THAT FIXES WALLS

A new line of wallpapers from Graham and Brown allows you cover up that disaster you call a wall. Cinderblocks, paneling, really bad cracks? These wallpapers will smooth right over them.

Drop shaped wall hooks.

DROPIT WALL HOOKS

The Dropit hook is a wooden, drop-shaped hook with a strong visual expression and exquisite finish. Hang a single drop on the wall or create a pattern using several Dropit hooks.

THE WRONG IMPRESSION

Going for the hand touch isn’t exactly foolproof. An easy way to miss: embossed wall coverings. Lincrusta was originally invented in 1877 as a kind of textile-linoleum hybrid by linoleum progenitor Frederick Walton, and was made with gelled linseed oil backed by a heavy canvas. It functioned as a kind of molded linoleum and was offered up as an economic alternative to hand-carved plaster. It continues to be used today, not only as a wall covering but for all manner of decorative borders, dados, and friezes, the subtle sense of dimension suggesting wood, pressed tin, or even leather.

HOME STICKERS

In San Francisco we’re frequently confronted with barren bedroom walls—since hanging anything that can fall in an earthquake is potentially deadly. French company Nouvelle Images has a new line of Home Stickers designed to do the trick.

FANTASTICAL WALLS

The larger-than-life, exuberantly patterned wallpaper by the Paris studio Minakani Walls makes me want to decorate my house like a mod Liberace. Frédéric Bonnin and Cécile Figuette launched their illustration studio in 2005 and a wallpaper design studio in 2009. Now, the company offers ten patterns on non-woven paper (i.e. it won't stretch) that can be sized to fit individual rooms.

OFF THE WALL MINI FLOWERPOTS

If you don't have much floor or table space for plants, these colorful cubes would allow you to introduce some easy (and low maintenance) greens into your home; The powder-coated steel pots project at an angle from the wall, and are just the right size for a small succulent. Or, if you're not into growing, one would be perfect by the front door as a place to drop your keys. Available in the US at the brilliant A Plus R Store.

WALL TEARS

Hopefully the only tears on one's birthday are tears of joy or these Wall Tears, designed by Andi Kovel for Esque. The teardrop-shape globes are handmade from recycled glass and look just like balloons, though they'll still keep their shape long after the party's over.

FABRIC ALPHABET DECALS

Got something to say? Spell it out: on the wall, on your books, on your backpack, wherever the heck you feel like. The lovely Lorena Siminovich creatied these adhesive decals out of fabric, and the reusable letters won't lose their stickum no matter how many times you peel and press.
