Umbra Shift focuses on modern influences in the design community. An extension of Umbra—a major international brand that sells household solutions in stores like Target and The Container Store—Umbra Shift focuses on both renowned and emerging designers, alongside an in-house design team dedicated to functional, aesthetically appealing designs. As a part of a large and established brand, Umbra Shift now seeks out high-design objects and furniture, making timeless design accessible to a broader audience.

Stool inspired by traditional weaving

Inspired by the traditional basket-weaving techniques of the Philippines, the Coiled Stool is comprised of hand-woven threads over a rattan core. Shaped in a classic tractor seat, the stool rests on four gmelina wood legs, and can be used in formal and casual environments alike.

Distinctive light source made from concrete and LED

Composed of two simple components, the Brick Lamp has an industrial look that will complement a rustic interior or provide a distinctive contrast to a sleek, modern room. In two different shades of black, the Brick Lamp is a neutral light with a sculptural slant. Designed by Philippe Malouin, the lamp is comprised of a perforated concrete brick and an aluminum cylinder outfitted with an LED array.

Earthenware vase with pleated detail

Umbra Shift’s Pleated series was designed by MSDS as a way to accompany a plant through different growth stages. Each member of the Pleated earthenware collection is handmade and features geometric pleats that help highlight the contents of the piece. This tall vase can be used on a floor or tabletop and is best for displaying long-stemmed flowers, grasses, or ferns.

Also available in Low Dish and Self-Watering Planter.

Adjustable storage caddy in metal and wood

The Nest Caddy is a versatile storage solution that can be used in several ways. The wood caddy can be used to store pens, pencils, jewelry, or even make-up. The caddy’s lid can be used to conceal contents, or can be flipped over to hold additional items, or can be used as a tray. The metal holder can be used as its primary function—to transport the caddy—and can also be used to hold a tablet or display an art print.

Simple spice grinder inspired by traditional oven knobs

The Knob Spice Grinder’s turning mechanism was inspired by the oven knob, a simple, easy-to-turn topper with traditional looks. Made of beech wood, the grinder includes a ceramic mechanism to finely grind salt, pepper, and other spices. The base of the grinder includes a detachable bowl that can be used as a pinch pot, perfect for cooking or presenting ground salt and pepper at a kitchen table.

Multi-function table lamp for desk or nightstand

With its simple profile, the Cup Lamp is an unexpected multitasker. In addition to its primary function as a dimmable LED lamp, the aptly named lamp includes a storage cup at the base of the lamp. Designed to hold pens and pencils or other small knickknacks, the Cup Lamp is ideal for a desk or bedside table.

Simple folding chair with versatile storage solution

The Hanger Folding Chair from Umbra Shift is an innovative chair that calls to one of the most classic storage systems—a simple clothes hanger. Designed by Philippe Malouin, the folding chair can be used as additional seating for guests, and the playful range of colors makes the Hanger Chair a cheerful addition to a dining room, living room, or office interior. When the chair is not in use, it folds into a slim profile that can be hung and stowed in a closet or on a peg.

Woven green and pink doormat for indoor and outdoor spaces

A doormat at the front door can tell a lot about the personalities of the people who live inside. Instead of a simple “Welcome” mat or neutral doormat, consider Umbra Shift’s Above Home Floor Mat, a hand-woven mat with abstract illustrations. Meant to depict a backyard, the image is largely geometric and provide a colorful accent for a doorstep.

Sculptural candle holder with asymmetrical details

The Asymmetrical Candle Holders are a functional work of sculpture—The bowl-like silhouette of the holder is designed to reflect light and catch wax drips. And when the holder stands without a candlestick, it creates a striking accent for a tabletop or mantel. Available in three sizes, the holders can be grouped together or used as standalone accents.

Brass wheel-shaped beer bottle opener

The Roll Bottle Opener is an unexpected kitchen accent. Cast from solid brass, the opener resembles a wheel, and its function is not immediately clear at first glance. Each section of the wheel, however, is structured as a bottle opener, and can be used for beer and soda bottles. As its name suggests, the Roll can also be rolled across a flat surface, making this accessory one that might stay on a counter or table, rather than being put away in a drawer.
