Yup, the warm metallics are still going strong. This is the trend that just won't quit, but that's ok because we love it. This fall, try incorporating some gold, brass, or copper accents into your home design for a rich yet not too opulent look. Check out more fall design trends like Warm Woods and Comfortable Kitchens.

MINIMALIST BROOKLYN APARTMENTPublished as: Top Brass

Here is a great example of one family that has incorporated two of our favorite fall trends, warm woods and brass accents! For them, an updated kitchen meant rich materials, a warm walnut slab, and custom woodwork by Marcus Bartenschlager all courtesy of their architects Workstead. The real masterstroke is all that brass, touches of which include a chandelier that Workstead designed, a custom range hood from Rangecraft, and a faucet by Rohl that the architects had stripped and plated in brushed brass. “The use of brass throughout the apartment was a decision that we made early on," says Workstead founder Robert Highsmith, "to both speak to the clients sensibilities, and our own desire to have a warm, bright tone in the apartment.”

DESIGNER OMER ARBEL'S ECLECTIC HOME IN VANCOUVER

Designer Omer Arbel develops his latest works inside an eclectic Vancouver home filled with a teeming assortment of pets and prototypes. In the living room, angel wings taken from a circa-1890s Parisian statue were discovered at Scott Landon Antiques in Vancouver. The vintage Petal coffee table, by Richard Schultz for Knoll, is topped with various brass and copper bowls found at secondhand stores, displayed alongside Form bowls by Tom Dixon.

NEW PROSPECTS

Here Brooklyn homeowner and architect Jeff Sherman built a volume that contains storage space and extends from the first floor to the roof of his renovated row house. He covered it in inexpensive copper flashing so it would read as a single object. Adding the copper was a stroke of genius.

METAL VERTICAL WALLS

Ti, Al, and Cu are all excellent options for siding. These natural elements are nontoxic (you probably ate some copper in your cereal this morning) and easily recycled. But for us, copper takes the cake because of its chameleonic qualities and 200-to-300-year life span. While the investment clearly pays off, it's still a more expensive option than vinyl, but family-run Zappone supports DIY customers with an installation guide for their interlocking system, which will cut down on cost if you're willing to sweat.

Stainless steel may be the modern flatware standard, but warm-toned metals are making a comeback and totally on trend this fall. This line is designed by a Portuguese company schooled in the fine art of cutlery craftsmanship.

COPPER GRID VASE

Jaime Hayon designed these copper vases for Gaia & Gino with an eye on Turkish geometric motifs. We love the shot of pure copper, especially when grouped as a trio.

COPPER SHADE PENDANT LAMP

Lighting designer Tom Dixon released this pendant lamp in 2006 at the Milan Furniture Fair. The shade is constructed of plastic polycarbonate and sheathed in a mirror-like copper finish.

COPPER LAMP 10KG

Both sturdy and whimsical, the copper lamp is a tongue-in-cheek way to collect a full ten kilograms of metal deposits as a long-term investment.
